An all-weather camera solution designed to maintain clear visual information for human-driven vehicles, autonomous vehicles, and drones.

See our prototype in a real-world test drive. Development is ongoing, with a focus on improving image quality and integrating additional cameras and intelligent image processing to further enhance visual continuity.

Our USP

CLEAVIZ combines innovative camera protection, compact hardware, and intelligent image processing to maintain usable visual information in challenging weather conditions.

Its lightweight, energy-efficient design and minimal mechanical complexity make it suitable for driver assistance, autonomous vehicles, drones, and robotic systems. Multiple cameras and intelligent image selection are being developed to further improve visual continuity when an individual camera’s view is temporarily affected.

The Problem

Cameras are increasingly important for driver assistance, autonomous navigation, remote operation, and situational awareness. However, rain, snow, spray, and contamination can obstruct their view and reduce the quality of the visual information they provide.

For human drivers, poor visibility makes it harder to recognise road users and obstacles. For autonomous vehicles, drones, and robotic systems, degraded camera images can limit object recognition, scene interpretation, and navigation.

The challenge is to maintain usable camera images in adverse conditions while keeping the protection system compact, lightweight, and energy-efficient.

Our Mission

Our mission is to improve the availability and reliability of camera-based vision in adverse weather.

We develop compact camera protection and intelligent imaging solutions that support human operators and automated systems across mobility, aviation, and industrial applications.

Key Benefits

  • Reliable Visual Information: Designed to reduce weather-related obstruction of the camera view and maintain usable images in challenging conditions.
  • Compact and Lightweight: Small hardware dimensions support integration into applications where installation space and weight are critical.
  • Energy-Efficient Design: Low power requirements support use in electric vehicles, drones, and other battery-powered systems.
  • Minimal Mechanical Complexity: The protection concept limits reliance on complex moving mechanisms, supporting durability and straightforward maintenance.
  • Intelligent Image Processing: Ongoing software and AI development aims to improve image usability and select suitable views from multiple cameras.
  • Flexible Integration: Designed for integration into customer camera systems, perception platforms, and operator displays.

Applications Across Industries

CLEAVIZ addresses camera visibility challenges across a range of applications:

  • Human-Driven Vehicles: Camera-based views can provide drivers with additional visual information when weather reduces visibility.
  • Autonomous Vehicles and ADAS: Protected camera views support the visual input used for object recognition and scene interpretation, complementing radar and LiDAR within a wider perception system.
  • Drones and Aviation: Compact, lightweight camera protection supports navigation, inspection, and remote observation where payload and power consumption matter.
  • Rail: External cameras can support forward observation, infrastructure monitoring, and operator awareness in adverse weather.
  • Marine: Camera protection can support visual monitoring and navigation assistance in rain and spray.
  • Commercial and Industrial Equipment: Protected cameras support operator awareness, remote operation, and automated functions in demanding working environments.

Safety and Economic Impact

Maintaining usable camera images can support situational awareness and the availability of camera-dependent functions. CLEAVIZ is being developed to deliver value through:

  • Improved Camera Availability: Reducing weather-related obstruction can help keep visual information available during operation.
  • Lower Integration Burden: Compact dimensions and low weight support applications with limited installation space or payload capacity.
  • Maintenance Potential: Minimal mechanical complexity may reduce servicing requirements compared with more elaborate camera-cleaning mechanisms.
  • Efficient Operation: Low power consumption supports energy-conscious system design.

Future Vision

Our development roadmap focuses on:

  • Multi-Camera Visual Continuity: Combining multiple camera views and automatically selecting usable images when individual views are affected.
  • AI-Assisted Image Processing: Improving image usability and assessing image quality under changing environmental conditions.
  • Customer System Integration: Developing interfaces for perception platforms, remote-operation systems, and driver displays.
  • Broader Validation: Extending testing across weather conditions, operating speeds, installation positions, and application requirements.
  • Scalable Production: Refining hardware and manufacturing processes for reliable, cost-effective deployment.
